Accelerated innovation and digitalization are reshaping industries. In this context, governing Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become crucial for companies. Responsible integration of emerging technologies, such as generative AI (GenAI), depends on strong governance.
“Navigating AI Complexity” is a report developed by BIP in collaboration with AUSED explores this topic. It presents a structured framework for AI governance. The framework addresses not just technical aspects but also ethical, regulatory, and cultural dimensions. It promotes a holistic approach to adopting these technologies.
The rapid spread of GenAI is noteworthy. It enables complex automation and transforms business sectors. However, it requires careful attention to the risks of ungoverned adoption. There are also potential ethical and legal implications to consider.
For this reason, the framework suggests implementing a dedicated board. This board serves as a strategic tool for guiding secure integration. Its purpose is to align AI adoption with business objectives.
The board ensures oversight on multiple levels. These include regulatory compliance, risk management, and data security. It also promotes a responsible corporate culture towards AI.
The framework does not limit itself to providing technical guidelines, but includes a methodology for assessing the impact of AI on the company lifecycle, constantly monitoring benefits and critical issues.
Thanks to the data from the survey conducted, the report offers a concrete vision of the maturity and challenges encountered by Italian companies, with a particular focus on SMEs, which often find themselves in difficulty with respect to the costs and skills required for effective AI management. This disparity highlights a “digital business divide” that could affect the future competitive landscape.
An innovative aspect of this report is the focus on internal training and the dissemination of an ethical culture in the use of AI. The framework emphasizes how trust and responsibility are pillars for a sustainable adoption of AI, supporting a transformation that, in addition to technical aspects, considers human value and sustainability.
